A brutal and realistic war film focuses on the lives of a squad of 14 U.S. Army soldiers of B Company, 3rd Battalion, 187th Infanty Regiment, 101st Airborne Division during the brutal 10 day (May 11-20, 1969) battle for Hill 937 in the A Shau Valley of Vietnam as they try again and again to take the fortified hill held by the North Vietnamese, and the faults and casualties they take every time in which the battle was later dubbed "Hamburger Hill" because enemy fire was so fierce that the fusillade of bullets turned assaulting troops into shreded hamburger meat. A very realistic interpretation of one of the bloodiest battles of the Vietnam War. I rented this movie without expecting much after watching Apocalypse Now. The movie turned out to be different. The movie let us see the horrors of war in Vietnam in a very realistic way. It also shows the lives of the soldiers and the racial prejudice that existed between them. The actors deserve a lot of praise for good performances. The movie focused more on character development and a clearly depicted storyline, this made the movie even more interesting. This movie is a must see for war movie lovers. No matter how much mud or blood there was in this film at any one time it could be counted upon that the soldiers would all have pearly clean, pristine white (and flossed) teeth! Seriously, all the time: an arm blown off, no problem, lets smile to the camera …shot in the face, it's okay, do my teeth look good?!

Every conceivable moment a track from the era popped up, to be played right to the end, so if its a 5min song, you hear the whole thing, that drags.

What else… well, bad, no, really hollow, flimsy-bad, acting, utterly over the top. If only the actors could have extracted that out of the audience at the same time and they'd be on to a winner.

Oh Christ, why bother, just don't, watch something else. Full Metal Jacket for the fifteenth time if you have to, just, just not this!!
